Zu

   Assyrian storm god symbolized in the form of a bird. A tablet in the British Museum says that Zu once stole the Tablets of Creation from Enlil and took them to a mountain top, where he hid them. Adad was chosen as champion of the gods but refused to fight for them. The rest of the tablet is missing, but in the legend of Etana it is said that Shamash eventually secured their return with the aid of a net in which Zu was ensnared. Zu’s role in this resembles that of Haya-Griva in the Vedic myths. He may be equated with Garuda.
